I'm back. I will attempt to re-cap my trip...
Thursday:
I got to SeaTac around 10pm, only to find out my flight had been delayed until 12:10am. Boo. I slept for an hour, and then groggily dragged myself onto the plane. The flight was pretty nasty, with turbulence almost the entire way. Thankfully, I hadn't slept well in several days, so I was able to sleep for about two of the four hours.
Friday:
I arrived in Chicago with about 15 minutes to spare before my next flight. I ran to the bathroom, and then booked it on to the plane. The flight to Pittsburgh was pretty bumpy at first, but our pilot decided to take a detour route to avoid the rest of the turbulence, so it was smooth sailing from then on out and I enjoyed an hour of blissful sleep, putting my grand total at about four hours for the night.
Sarah picked me up around 10am, and we headed into downtown Pittsburgh to grab some coffee. She took me to an area called Shadyside, and I satisfied my caffeine craving. From there, we heading into the hills of Pittsburgh to pick up another one of the bridesmaids, Bitz. The three of us piled into the car and started on the LONG journey (about 3.5 hours) from Pittsburgh to Curwensville.
We pulled into Curwensville around 4pm - and I was exhausted. I took a quick nap, showered, and then all the bridesmaids headed out to the county fair for a little bachelorette celebration. We enjoyed some fried foods, a scavenger hunt, classy people, and a ride on bull. Woo hoo. Sarah still had a lot to do to prep for the wedding, so we got home around 9pm and got to work, finally falling asleep around midnight.
Saturday:
Saturday was the rehearsal and luncheon. Sarah, Mandi, and I drove out to the middle of freaking nowhere to pick up all the baked goods for the wedding, and then we headed out to State College to the wedding site. The rehearsal was on Sarah's family property up on a little mountain outside of State College, and then the rehearsal was in downtown State College at a restaurant called The Allen Street Grill. I wasn't impressed by my meal, but the desert was super tasty.
After dinner, all the bridesmaids headed out to take Sarah for a surprise manicure/pedicure. We also had some last minute shopping to do to prepare for the wedding the next day. We all headed back to the hotel around 7pm to hang out, relax, and enjoy our last night together. We ended up eating tons of junk, going swimming, watching the Parent Trap (with LiLo) and having an overall great time. We ordered pizza around 10 and all went to bed after midnight.
Sunday:
Sunday was the BIG day! All the bridesmaids and Sarah ate breakfast together at the hotel before Sarah had to head out for her hair appointment. Bitz and I hit the gym, and had a mediocre workout before moving the party over to the prep room at the reception hall.
The rest of the day is pretty much a blur of getting ready, getting Sarah ready, pictures, crazy weather, a really fun reception with LOTS of dancing, and then a slightly emotional goodbye as Sarah and Paul headed out. I caught a ride back to Pittsburgh with a few of Sarah's friends as soon as the reception was over. The drive took about two and a half hours, and we rolled into Pittsburgh at 1:30am.
Monday:
Monday morning I dragged myself out of bed at 6:30am, grabbed a quick shower, and then rushed out the door with Bitz to catch my flight. The trip back was uneventful, with minimal turbulence, and I cannot even explain how happy I was to be back in Seattle. I think this was possibly the longest Jon and I have been separated since we've been married, and it was a bit rough.
Jon picked me up at the airport around 3pm, we went straight to Ballard to pick up some friends, and then drove over to El Corazon for Jon and the boys to get their equipment set up. Their show was GREAT, but of course I was totally exhausted. Jon and I got home around 11pm on Monday night, and I just about passed out on the kitchen floor.
Thankfully I've been catching up on my sleep. But sadly both Jon and I seem to be getting sick. Hopefully we'll be able to relax this weekend and get some good recovery time in, but my parents will be up here visiting...
That's all for now. Sorry for the long update, but it's nice to keep track of things like vacations on here, otherwise I'll never remember them.
PS: Ciara and Matt had their baby, Kisa Camille, and I honestly can't wait to meet her. She looks so much like an Owen, it's hilarious! I showed a picture of her to my sister-in-law and I quote "She already looks like her mom! Crazy." I just want to see Kisa bust out the baby G.O.L.
