I just found out I'm lactose-intollerant.

The main reaction I've received when sharing the news with people is something along the lines of "that sucks," "I feel so bad for you," "I would die if I couldn't eat ice cream," etc.

However, I couldn't be more thrilled to find out. I've been having stomach problems for close to a year now. Some days it's been worse than others. But it's always the same pain. I've downed so much pepto-bismol and tums in the last year, trying to get rid of the cramps in my stomach. I never even considered that it was a food allergy causing the problems.

To finally know what was making me feel so terrible so many times... and to know that it's fixable... is a pretty great feeling.

I haven't eaten any dairy for 4 days now, and I haven't had the slightest twinge of pain in my stomach. And that my friends, is a miracle.

That's great! I have a friend who is allergic to dairy, soy, wheat, melon, etc, etc, etc. There are a lot of things she can't eat, but once she found out about all of her allergies and started eating accordingly, she had a whole host of health problems that disappeared (one being eczema that covered her hands and arms in a terrible rash that itched 24/7 and had the appearance of a third degree burn).

All that to say, I am glad you found out and that you're feeling better! And there are a ton of great soy products now anyways, so you don't have to miss out on lattes, ice cream, etc.

There's always lactaid too...in case you get a hankering for cheese or something :)

ah...reminds me of my entire childhood drinking acidophilus milk.
